Devoted supporters of the actress are calling for that a individual who leaped a barrier and grabbed the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A viral clip reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside camera operators and lunging at Grande while the cast walked down a yellow carpet flanked by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being detained", though legal records revealed that he was scheduled to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram profile features clips of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney show in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last December.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," stated an Instagram follower, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user wrote.
Several fans accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the end of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented one more response on Instagram.
Several attendees also criticised event staff at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.
In videos circulating online, Grande looked shocked when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Many of fans had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The film, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual interpretation of the well-known Broadway and West End production Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected relationship between two distinct characters.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning film of 2024 in the UK, and received ten Academy Award nods, earning two for best costume and set decoration.
