Lando Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to avoid just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, turning around through the high-speed corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
